"In 2017, we changed our ethical markings on funds and intermediaries. We now not only look at the oil fund's blacklist, but also according to the UN Global Compact and UNPRI. In addition to ethical labeling, we have from 2017, started influencing company behaviour. Even if we do not have direct investments in the companies, or our own funds, we want to influence the worst performers, and do this through ISS Ethix Pooled Engagement. A final highlight from 2017, is that we now have stricter requirements for subcontractors and we have written a self-declaration on suppliers' corporate social responsibility."

"At Norsk Gjenvinning, sustainability is at the core of our vision and based on the following four pillars: Circular economy, compliance, own footprint and social responsibility. Sustainability is integrated in our strategy and engrained in our operations. To underline this focus, our annual report has a combined focus on financials, operations and sustainability. In addition, we publish a sustainability report online which provides further details and specific examples on how sustainability is the driving force behind our improvement and innovation initiatives. This year we have also implemented a new, industry standard calculation model for reporting key environmental figures, creating additional transparency into how our operations result in net positive impact CO2 emissions."

"In 2017, we presented our strategy: always safe, high value, low carbon, and we set clear ambitions for the future. We have delivered above and beyond our ambitious targets, and Statoil is now a stronger, more resilient and more competitive company. We are also continuing to embrace the energy transition, and embed sustainability in everything we do. In 2017, CO2 emissions from our oil and gas production were reduced with an additional 10% per barrel. We also developed our renewable energy position and started production from Dudgeon and the floating windfarm Hywind. Today, we operate three offshore wind projects in the UK, delivering competitive returns. We are excited to continue our journey from a focused oil and gas to a broad energy company."

"This year, we signal a new start to take our Sustainability Report to a higher level by incorporating the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. This is a solid outcome of a feedback process conducted with key stakeholders to further develop our sustainability reporting practices. We bring more focus to Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) reporting and in 2017 we took an important step towards calculating our own climate effect by collecting emissions data from our operating sites, offices and employee air travels."

How does the integration of GRI Standards and the increased focus on ESG reporting enhance the organization’s ability to measure and improve its long-term sustainability impact?
