Over the last couple of years, along with the advent of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have noted an acceleration of crisis-level issues including climate change and resource depletion. We have seized this moment to take stock of the technological revolution we have been living through. Fuelled by great technology collaborations, our world has been re-shaped at an unprecedented rate. Digital solutions for medical care or transport have altered the way we live, work, and relate to one another, amplifying positive environmental and social impact across sectors and organisations.
With technology changing the ground rules for everything from products and services to business models and processes, this meant that decision makers with responsibilities connected to tech & innovation would play a key role in making their ideas a reality. These decision makers will help companies achieve sustainable mandates, and underlines the importance of collaboration and digitalization in reaching new sustainability targets.
Partnering with Accenture since November 2021, Sustainability Hub Norway (S-HUB) has therefore been scoping the structure and focus of a potential S-HUB Tech & Sustainability Network in partnership with Accenture since November 2021. We have met with tech leaders, heads of innovation and other decision makers in scoping sessions to consider the role that technology and innovation can play in solving our sustainability challenges. We have tackled several core issues including the evolving role of tech and innovation professionals, the importance of collaboration and trust in building a sustainable tech infrastructure, and the skills gap that needs to be addressed to better design in sustainability from the start.
We have looked into forward thinking tech solutions providing platforms to enable the reduction of consumption-based emissions (Ducky, Doconomy), services that embed sustainability parameters that support greater diversity and inclusion (Otiga Group), or even leading think tanks (HUB Ocean) that are piloting new approaches to ocean governance through collaborative data platforms and tools.
Moving forward, we see the crucial need to avoid silo thinking on sustainability, and we have continued to collaborate with numerous leading organisations such as ICT Norway, Innovation Norway, Digital Norway, Girl Geek Dinners Oslo, ODA Nettverk.
