Background
The value of global assets applying environmental, social and governance data to drive investment decisions has almost doubled over four years, to $40.5 trillion(2020). Sustainability has become a strategic priority for a number of companies, both from a risk and opportunity perspective, fueled by global finance and investor expectations worldwide.
Indications are that sustainability investments do not come at a cost but may lead to superior returns, and 97% of investors now say they take non-financial information into consideration when making their investment decisions - an increase of almost 50% in just 3 years. Stakeholders such as owners, customers, existing and prospective employees, suppliers and the government are demanding that companies have a clear sustainability agenda.

Will the role as CFO move towards becoming more of a Chief Value Officer? Can sustainability investments generate additional growth and ROI? How can this be achieved, what to expect and which critical questions to ask?
